8 Design Tips for a SIMS Assessment Without Levels System

Most schools go down the age related route and choose to assess the pupils against something like these:

emerging, expected, exceeding
emerging, developing, secure, mastered
beginning, achieved, exceeded
etc, etc.
SIMS can be configured for any grades you want to record, but on a practical level consider how you’ll shorten those grades to fit them on a marksheet. For example, emerging – expected- exceeding can be problematic as there all the grades begin with the same letter.

At the moment, I’re using Below, Secure and Beyond; once I move to Hampshire’s Assessment Model, I’m sure that will change.
