SIMS Assessment will continue to support the use of levels for as long as schools find the resources useful. In tandem with this, resources are being added into SIMS to help support a life without them. This will evolve over time with feedback from My assessment software consultancy group meetings, the DfE, NAHT, ASCL and other leading bodies.
The Summer release of SIMS at the end of June 2014 sees the start of this journey. I am introducing a new Progress Grid that clearly displays knowledge descriptors matched to the new curriculum for all core and foundation subjects. Teachers can use the Progress Grid to record whether a pupil is below expected, at expected or above expected knowledge at termly intervals for both the statutory and non-statutory requirements.
